Lots of interesting facts about volcanoes! Why volcanoes form and what types of volcanoes there are, record-breaking volcanoes, ancient and new ones. Display of the museum's collection of volcanic products, master class, and tour.
On Friday, February 27, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., we invite children and teenagers to a meeting at the Mineralogical Museum, “All About Volcanoes”! When we think of a volcano, we all imagine a large mountain from which lava sometimes pours out or fragments of rock and ash fly, and smoke rises. Everyone has heard the names of large volcanoes - Vesuvius, Etna, Kilimanjaro. But there are many more interesting facts about volcanoes that you and your children may not know! Do you know which volcano is the highest on Earth and which is the highest in the Solar System? Have you heard that there is a type of volcano that can “grow” tens of meters in a month? Are you familiar with the concept of a “supervolcano”? And finally, why do scientists study volcanoes? We promise that our meeting will not be like a geography lesson! It will also be accompanied by a display of our museum specimens from around the world! There will be experiments, a master class, and gifts for your own collections — all on the theme of “volcanoes”!
