The Yevhen Lazarenko Mineralogical Museum serves as a vital scientific hub for mineralogical research, focusing on mineral morphology, physical properties, chemical composition, and conditions of formation. The vast number of specimens consolidated in a single repository, combined with the extensive geographical diversity of their origin, provides researchers with a robust foundation for comparative analysis and scientific conclusions within the field of mineralogy.
A particular value of the Museum's collection lies in its preservation of specimens from deposits that are currently inaccessible or exhausted. Furthermore, the collection includes material from type locality — specific geographic sites where a particular mineral species, variety, or rock type was first discovered and scientifically described. Modern analytical techniques now allow for the re-examination of historical museum specimens using high-precision methods, which often leads to deeper insights or even the discovery of new mineral species.
The Museum staff conducts diverse scientific research, performs detailed cataloging of the collections, and works toward ensuring broad public and academic access to these resources. The results of this research are documented in scientific publications, which can be accessed via the links provided below.
We invite representatives of educational institutions, industrial enterprises, and scientific organizations to engage in professional scientific and museum cooperation!
